The Roommate is a new take on Single White Female. I preferred the college scope more than the flat context because it rendered Sara and the spectator a more enclosed feeling. In an apartment there are doors you can bar and spaces to conceal yourself, where as in a dorm room there is yourself and there’s the psychotic person.
I consider myself as somebody who judges movies sort of harshly. All The Same, I feel like many of the people who are bashing this film are people who went into the theatre close-minded and not even consenting to watch free movies and give this film an opportunity. I’m not a fan of Single White Female, as I found every single one of the characters to get on my very last nerve. I’m not saying their acting was awful, I’m saying that I did not believe the characters were at all sympathetic.
Leighton Meesters acting of the role of Rebecca was really pleasant. She did a really good job of impersonating the maniac. And a lot of people are bashing Minka Kelly for her enactment of Sara and to be truthful Leighton did outdo her, only because the part of Rebecca is much more complex and intriguing. Sara isn’t intended to be an engrossing persona. She’s a typical college girl who does not have lots of a back story because she doesn’t actually call for a back story. We are introduced to Sara as a college freshman who drinks, swears, and has sexual activity just like the succeeding college freshman in any movie, but in some manner Rebecca sees something in her she desires and will do anything to acquire.
I appreciated that they didn’t simply make Rebecca a psycho and left it at that, then I been angry. However I consider they spent a ideal measure of time explicating Rebecca and her past. We don’t know the specifics on Maria because we don’t need to. She has two minutes of screen time in this free movie download and in that brief sum screen time we discover that whatsoever materialized between her and Rebecca it definitely left her marred.
I did like that, other than Rebecca and Sara we didn’t have much fundamental interaction between other personae and that’s the way it should have been, as it was Rebecca’s goal. She needed to insulate Sara and by doing that, keeping apart the viewers.
It’s not a horror pic. Not in any way. It does have its scares and jump scenes and is overflowing to the brim with horrific bits though. And a part of me yet tallies with those who are saying it really should have been a TV movie. I imagine it would have been gauged a bit more reasonably. But I have to say, believe it or not, unlike a few Screen Gems flicks it does have uncommon deepness.
Watch it once. And then watch the free movies online . And THEN make your concluding assessment. Because in my belief, some of the people that are mocking the writers, actors and director are only tenacious Single White Female devotees.
