Movie Review – Drive Angry 3D – Let me tell you first off that I really don’t much like Nicholas Cage. However, in this motion picture it really didn’t annoy me too awfully much. So, even if you’re like me and don’t really like Cage you may still see this film. On to the movie itself: it’s a rather straight forward action film with a bad-ass hero who chases a bad guy together with his followers. John Milton (Cage) has some record with the baddie and on his way to get to him he uses guns, big explosions and likes to journey by classic American muscle car. In the first couple of moments of the film, you will see what you are in for. This movie is a planned exercise in profanity, gross excess, and the porn of violence, as well as typical porn. Cage is outrageous as usual, but who else would have wanted to have acted in this sort of movie. Cage does this kind of movie practically in his sleep. Mainly, I find that it offends almost every type of taste except bad. One highlight of the film is the character of Piper. The reason I nonetheless give it a 6 out of 10 is that the action is not bad, a lot of the special effects are very good and the storyline, however limited, moves along at a steady speed so you will not likely get bored. Fichtner’s side character is also really good. The things I don’t care for about the movie are some cliche’ dialog with dumb one-liners and the feeling that the film makers aim for cult status. Ultimately, the movie isn’t decent enough for it, but if you hear a title like Drive Angry you expect a standard action movie and that’s precisely what you get. And that is okay at times.
