The SDT750 3D Camcorder is really a standard 2D SDT750 camcorder that can be upgraded to 3d with the addition of a special 3d lens.
If you already own an SDT750 camcorder and you would like to film in 3d it is possible to buy the extra VW-CLT1 3D Converter Lens at a special price from Amazon.com at this link.
Of course there is no point in buying a 3d camcorder unless you have an HD-3DTV and/or a 3D Blu Ray player and of course you also need 3d glasses.
To use the 3d version of the SDT750 camcorder you simply fit the extra lens and you are ready to go. However, once fitted there are a number of features on the camera that can not be used when in 3d mode.
However, you are still left with enough to make some really good 3d films. We used our new camera over Christmas to film family occasions and especially our grandchildren. When shown back on our new 50 inch Panasonic 3D TV the results were stunning.
How it works: (Taken from Panasonic Website)“In natural vision, people see slightly different images with their right and left eyes. This difference is called visual disparity. The brain uses visual disparity to perceive spatial depth and the appearance of solidity. This visual disparity is artificially produced for 3D images so that the brain will interpret it as depth and solid-appearing objects. The SDT750 comes with a special 3D conversion lens that records right-eye and left-eye images simultaneously through its two lenses. The right and left images (each with 960 x 1080 pixels) that enter through the lenses are recorded using the side-by-side method. By attaching the 3D conversion lens to the SDT750 3MOS System camcorder, which incorporates a variety of Panasonic broadcast technologies, and connecting the SDT750 to a TV that is capable of side-by-side method 3D playback, vividly colorful 3D images can be viewed at home”
My son and I spent a considerable amount of time over Christmas, most enjoyable, editing everything to get as professional a finish as possible and are pleased with the 3d results. The only function that I would have liked while using 3d mode would have been the manual focus. If you have a Panasonic V20 or V25 series Full HD 3D HDTV then you can connect the mini-HDMI cable and watch 3D straight from the camera.
We have also used the camcorder in 2D mode while travelling in Australia and in this fashion all the features can be used and the picture quality and sound are both superb.
This is a great product that has already come down in price since it was introduced in early autumn 2009.
