Although this Hamilton Beach 64695 Power Deluxe Hand/Stand Mixer comes with a stand it is basically a hand mixer with a stand. Any kitchen in need of a true stand mixer would not be satisfied with this mixer. It is useful for the basic easy recipes, but does not have the power to handle the tougher doughs. For things like beating egg whites or whipping cream which take a long time this stand/mixer can come in handy to save you the time of standing there and holding the hand mixer. This mixer is very affordable but unfortunately you basically get a hand mixer. The motor is not powerful enough to handle thick mixes and the motor life will be shortened and it can even burn out with thick heavy doughs or large batches. The hand mixer can be difficult to remove from the base and needs to be shut off before even trying to remove it.
Features of the Hamilton Beach 64695 Power Deluxe Hand/Stand Mixer:
- 225-watt motor with 6 speeds
- Power-burst button
- Lever shifts the bowl side-to-side
- Hamilton Beach 64695 comes with 4-quart bowl, dough hooks and traditional beaters
- Detachable to be used as either a hand mixer or on the stand
Why the Hamilton Beach 64695 Power Deluxe Hand/Stand Mixer is NOT the best choice:
This mixer is advertised to be a dual purpose mixer and is touted to be a stand mixer that can be used as a hand mixer. However the small motor is lacking in power to be a true stand mixer and even as a hand mixer cannot handle tough jobs. The dough hooks it comes with seem like they should be great, but the motor can burn out when trying to mix heavy doughs. It is a very basic mixer that is good only for light jobs such as cake batter, brownies, whipping cream or egg whites. The light weight of the unit unfortunately means that it is also unstable when being used with a bowl full of ingredients. The beaters do not mix the ingredients on the bottom of the bowl due to being a bit too short. Almost all mixes that you would do with this mixer will require hand mixing, making the stand useless.
We want to encourage you to stay clear from the Hamilton Beach 64695.
People who have purchased the Hamilton Beach 64695 Power Deluxe Hand/Stand Mixer have NOT given it very positive reviews:
