For nearly fifty years, the name Weber has been known for high-quality American-made barbecue grills. Weber has continued to introduce new grill innovations and new accessories. However, one classic grill that hasn’t been altered much is the Weber kettle grill. It’s been reintroduced as the Weber One Touch grill, because of its patented cleaning system. The One Touch can be cleaned simply by turning a lever – in other words, ‘one touch’.
The One Touch grill comes in several different models, and you may be wondering how they differ. The most basic grill is the Weber Silver kettle. This grill is the cheapest – it usually retails for under one hundred dollars. It has a basic ash-catch pan underneath the bowl, so when emptying the grill, the ashes wind up in the pan. However, some may not hit the pan, since the pan rests about five inches below the bowl. That’s one potential drawback of the Silver model.
The Gold model fixes this problem with a cylinder for catching the ashes. This can fits very close to the underside of the grill, so all of the ashes are caught. It’s straightforward to detach and you can empty it out without getting your hands dirty. Another aspect the Gold has is a hinged grilling grate. This grate has two hinged openings on either side that provide access to the coals. On the Silver model, you have to lift up the entire grill surface if you want to move the coals. Noted expert Cam Bronfman suggested that you can just buy the replacement grill itself, and use it with the less expensive grill. This would be a little cheaper than purchasing the Gold grill outright.
The last model up for discussion is the Weber kettle Platinum. This grill has even more features than the Gold. It has two attached side tables, on which you can put your food while you cook. It also has a tougher cart than the other models. You can get the grill in a variety of colors such as red or blue.
Overall, the Weber One Touch grill is a great choice if you are a fan of charcoal barbecue. Look around online and read a Weber kettle grill review before you choose the model to purchase.
